Springing Up Weddings

We spring forward tonight!  Yay!  I love daylight savings time and I’m hopeful Florida will soon be on daylight savings time permanently.  As we move forward ahead one hour we also move forward to spring and that means spring wedding season.  Dish It Out is ready to dish out some spring wedding table settings!

When I think of spring I think of blossoms, blooms, and all the beautiful colors.  The pinks, greens, yellows, and lilacs.  You can incorporate all of these lovely colors into your table settings.  Mismatched floral plates with spring colors would set a beautiful spring wedding table.  Pair the plates with goblets that compliment the colors.  Or bring in the colors of spring with just some goblets and use more subtle plates.  Milk glass goblets would also be lovely and unique for a spring wedding.  I like silver or gold flatware and chargers for spring and even a mix of metals is great!  There’s no rule that you have to use one or the other.  Have fun with your table settings!  That’s what mismatched is all about.

Take a look at some of the spring table settings I’ve set up and decide which you like the best.  I’m pretty partial to them all!  Bring on spring!

Using Vintage Snack Sets

I have quite the rental collection of vintage snack sets.  I fell in love with them instantly after purchasing my first several sets. I buy them often when I am thrifting/antiquing in Jacksonville or Fernandina.  They are so versatile in their styles and in their uses.

The primary use for the snack set is tea and either a sandwich or cookies.  This use is great for a ladies tea party, brunch, bridal shower, or a little girls tea party.  The snack sets tend to be less breakable then some of the more delicate teacups making them an excellent choice for a little girl tea party.

These beauties have lots of other great uses!  You can fill the cup with a dip of most any kind and serve cookies, berries, or veggies on the side.  I did a cannoli dip for Father's Day with pizelles, biscotti, and almond cookies.  I broke out my snack sets and used them for serving.  I am certain your guests will be just as delighted as mine were with their mismatched sets.

Another use is soup and sandwich.  The cup will not hold a large amount of soup, but it's the perfect size for a dipping soup!  Grilled cheese (fancy it up by mixing up your cheeses) with a side of tomato soup for dipping would be great!

Sushi will forever be on trend at any party.  Be unique and serve the sushi on a snack set.  Have your guests use the cup for the soy sauce and plate up the sushi.  I have used mine for sushi several times.  Such fun!

Because it is so darn good and since I did mention it in the blog I am including my recipe for cannoli dip.  I am not into measuring much, so adjust according to your taste.

Ingredients:

8 oz. cream cheese

2 cups ricotta cheese

1 cup confectioner sugar

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 Tbsp. vanilla

1 cup mini chocolate chips

1 Tbsp. fresh orange juice

lemon and lime zest to taste

Beat all ingredients together (other then the chocolate chips).  Once everything is mixed fold in the chocolate chips.
