Dishing It Out To The Navy Wives

I am a proud former Navy wife.  My husband retired after spending 23 years in the Navy.  Many of his Navy years he spent stationed at Kings Bay Naval Submarine just north of our home in Fernandina Beach.  When I happened upon the Facebook event page for the tea party to honor the Kings Bay Navy wives I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

I contacted the event planner and we spoke about her plans for the tea party. She wanted the wives to have a proper tea party and we planned for me to provide teacups, lunch plates, and goblets for all of the wives.  Set up was to be the evening prior to the party with finishing touches the morning prior to.

I dished out 100 of my floral lunch plates, teacups, and goblets for the wives.  Many of them had never been to a tea party.  It was wonderful seeing their delight at all of the lovely teacups.  Several wives commented how extra special they felt using formal tea party items.

The wives had a proper tea party complete with scones, cucumber sandwiches, and an assortment of teas.  They were even taught how to use jam and pot de creme' on their scones.  Many of the wives had a great time saying, "Please pass the pot de creme'."

I was able to meet many of the wives and commiserate about the struggles of having your husband gone for long periods of time.  Sitting back with a warm cup of tea made chatting with these ladies relaxed and enjoyable.  Tea parties aren't all stuffy and pinkies up!  They are a great way to enjoy the company of other ladies.

It was such a pleasure being a part of that special day.  A truly special day for some very special wives!

Dishing It Out....
